Rubbish Tip bans anyone who lives outside Reading
Rubbish Tip bans anyone who lives outside Reading :
If you live outside of the Reading, Wokingham or Bracknell boundaries we are sure that your journey to the local tip became a lot messier, longer and inconvenient after July 1st 2016 when people living outside the Reading, Wokingham and Bracknell boundaries were to be excluded from using the Smallmead and Longshot Lane recycling centres. Even an RG postcode didn’t save many unlucky people from this. The people most affected were those living in and around West Berkshire including Tilehurst, Pangbourne, Calcot and Burghfield to name a few!
So for those of you who are still lucky enough to have this service available, what will you need?
First: If you are driving a van, car with a trailer or any other commercial vehicle you will now need to have a permit when going to either recycling centre. These are free and available online at reading.gov.uk.
Second: If the vehicle is over 1.95m, you may have to pre-book your visit to the recycling centre.
So how can Berkshire Van Hire solve your recycling trip problems?
If you can’t handle the stress of pre-booking your journey to the tip but your car is too small to make the already long and tiring trip, people often hire a Citroen Berlingo, Peugeot Bipper or Renault Kangoo light commercial van which are all under the 1.95m restrictions imposed at the recycling centres. This van is also great for first time van drivers who are used to smaller vehicles!
But please feel free to take advantage of our full range of hire vehicles permitted to enter Smallmead and Longshot Lane including our standard short wheel base transit. At Berkshire Van Hire, we always endeavour to meet the needs of our customers and we’re always happy to provide any information and advice to our customers.
